Calcium Alpha-ketoglutarate (Ca-AKG) is a calcium salt and each capsule contains 500mg. It plays a role in several biological processes. It is a Krebs cycle metabolite and is produced when cells break down food molecules for energy. It also plays a role in gene expression, and flows into and between cells, which enables many foundational biological processes and signalling systems.

Natural levels of alpha-ketoglutarate seem to decline about tenfold between the ages of 40-80. Longevity research is not focusing on correlating this decline with the aging process and age-related diseases.
